TWO BANJOS IN ONE – Stacey WL No.7 style, 5 string / Vega Whyte Laydie Style R Tenor

A superb 5-string Whyte Laydie No 7 style banjo based upon a super condition 1925 Whyte Laydie Style R tenor banjo with 11 13/16 inch pot. Dave Stacey fashioned a beautiful 5-string neck from highly figured curly maple and fitted it to the pot. The neck has full engraved inlays, underlays, long back-strap, multiple wood centre stripe, a frailing scoop, gold Schaller planetary tuning pegs and 5th string peg. There is and a railroad spike at the 7 th fret. There is no heel carving.

The pot has a renaissance head, a reproduction kerschner tailpiece, Snuffy Smith compensated bridge and original Vega wire armrest. There is a new Superior brand ‘bump’ case.

This banjo has a great sound and was used by Gerry Milnes at the Banjo workshop in November 2009 for those who remember it.

The tenor banjo has the original Vega Style R short scale tenor neck in near original condition with original parts – friction tuners, Rogers skin head ( in really good useable condition), Grover tailpiece and Vega bracket wrench. It has its original case in very good condition with locking key.

The ‘two banjos in one’ package is for sale at £2,250 o.n.o.
